SURF • SKATE • CAMP • YOGA

Newgale, Pembrokeshire 14th -16th July, 2023

We are SO excited to be running our first getaway to our neighbouring coastline of Pembrokeshire! As equally beautiful as the Gower Peninsula, we’re going to soak up all that Newgale has to offer. Get ready for a long weekend of surfing, skating, sunrise yoga sessions, campfires and the debut of the official GWS Beach Tournament… 

 

How it works: 

We have a limited number of Event Tickets for the weekend available here. This reserves your place at the weekend and acts as a non-refundable deposit. The Event Ticket covers the cost of tea, coffee, s’mores, admin, goody bags, insurance and post surf snacks throughout the weekend. 

We wanted to make this weekend as affordable as possible, so you only need to pay for the activities that you want to do alongside your camp pitch eg: yoga & surf lessons. The beach tournament & skate session are both free :) 

For example, if you were not booking any yoga or surf lessons, the weekend overall would cost you £30. 

Ticket £10 + Camping 2x Nights £20 = £30

 

CAMPING 

We'll be basing ourselves and camping at the iconic Newgale Campsite over the weekend. You can camp in a tent or a van but please note that there are no electric hook ups available. 

£10 per night per person 

Dogs are £2 per night per dog

Your Event Ticket reserves you a 2 night camping pitch at the campsite. We will add your name to a spreadsheet to be given to the campsite who will contact you directly in mid-June with a payment link for £20.

Other amenities available at the campsite are: 

  • Showers - 20p/2 mins (Only 20p or £1 coins accepted)
  • Laundry (45 min Mixed Washing Cycle) - charges apply
  • Secure Smartphone Charging Kiosk - £1 (1 hr)
  • Free Ice Block Freezer Storage 
  • Free Dish Washing Facility 
  • Free Wi-Fi with a limited download capacity

SURF

We are delighted to announce that we have partnered with Shaka Surf who will run all the surf lessons over the weekend! 

All lessons will be booked and managed by them via their website. We’ll be running three surf sessions throughout the weekend covering beginner, progressor and intermediate lessons. Please contact the team at Shaka if you’re not sure what lesson you’d like to take or if you need to hire kit for the weekend outside of lesson time. 

Lessons are 1.5 hours and cost £23pp which includes wetsuit and board hire. Please note that the first Intermediate lesson will be priced at £28pp as it includes an additional video analysis session. 

You are welcome to bring and use your own.

HIRE & SOCIAL SURFING

We will be running our social surfs alongside the lessons. You will need to fill out the waiver on the day to attend these. If you need to hire equipment, Newsurf have kindly offered us a discounted price for the weekend: 

2 day hire: £20 board £16 wetsuit. 

This applies to a 8ft or 7ft softboard whereas a hardboard would be £40. 

Newsurf is located onsite right next to the campsite and all hires must be arranged directly with them. To hire equipment, just pop into the shop and let them know that you are attending the Gower Women's Camp Out to access the discount. YOGA

It wouldn’t be a weekend away without the chance to unwind with a beach yoga session! Gower Women’s very own Tirion will be leading these sessions with Lauren from Tideline Surf. 

There will be three opportunities to catch a yoga session over the weekend at both sunrise & sunset. Tickets for this will be sold via our online shop - make sure you take a note of the time of the session that you’re booking onto. 

Sessions are £8 pp and last 45 mins

Please bring your own mat, comfy clothes and warm layers. 

 

SKATE 

Feel free to bring your own boards, pads and helmets to skate with yer mates throughout the weekend! 

 

FOOD 

GWS will be providing post-surf tea, coffee & snacks. We’re also planning on having a campfire with s'mores and marshmallows on the first night (weather permitting!) There will be a few catering options onsite being a Pizza van (last orders at 8pm) and The Duke of Edinburgh Inn. There are also a range of places to eat nearby if you don't fancy cooking - find them here.

PLEASE NOTE: 

  • Ticket holders must be 18+ 
  • You MUST have a valid GWS membership to attend
  • Getaway Event Tickets are non-refundable
  • If you sell or gift your ticket to another member, you MUST let us know so we can adjust our records 
  • GWS withholds the right to revoke access to the event if the ticket holder does not obtain a valid membership
  • All attendees must adhere to the GWS code of conduct throughout the duration of the weekend
  • All attendees must adhere to the campsite guidelines whilst on site
